Your life is drifting. One domain at a time.

The Counselors

A governance system for everything that matters.

Get a free AI counselor prompt — copy-paste ready for Claude or ChatGPT.

Most lives don't collapse.
They drift.

Not all at once. Not dramatically. One domain quietly falls behind while you're focused on another. Your health slips while you're building your career. Your relationships thin while you're fixing your finances. Your mind stagnates while your body is fine.

No single failure. Just a slow, unmonitored decline across the things that matter most.

The Counselors is a system designed to make drift impossible.

Nine Domains

Your life is a portfolio. These are the assets. Gains and losses in one ripple across the others.

The inward domains are your foundation. When they're strong, you bring your best self to everything else.

Inward Outward

The outward domains rely heavily on personal interactions and connections. You can do everything right and still fail — because they depend on the whims and wishes of others. That's not a bug. It's the structural truth of human connection.

Each domain has a dedicated Counselor — a structured AI session that runs the same rigorous protocol, tailored to its domain.

Three Tiers

Tier 1 — Domain
The Counselors

One per domain. Runs the 9-step protocol. Diagnoses, defines mission and vision, identifies tensions, scores health, assigns concrete actions. The structured mirror you never had.

Tier 2 — Coordination
The Supervisor

Oversees all nine counselors. Maintains the action registry and follow-through monitoring. "Is the overall structure of this life moving toward stability, growth, and coherence?"

Tier 3 — Integration
The Council Meeting

All nine domains report in. Structured round-robin. The format that creates accountability and surfaces cross-domain conflicts. Where the whole picture becomes visible.

The Protocol

Every counselor session follows the same nine steps. No improvisation. No drift.

  1. Where I Standhonest diagnostic of current state
The counselor asks what's working, what's not, where the risks are. One question at a time. Distinguishes between structural issues and emotional reactions. No judgment — just clarity.
  2. Mission — what is this domain fundamentally for?
Distill the purpose of this domain into a single sentence: "The [domain] exists to..." This forces you to articulate what you actually want from this area of your life, not what you think you should want.
  3. Vision — at age 85, what would "handled well" look like?
Project forward to the end. What would make you say this domain was governed well? This anchors every decision to a long-term outcome, not short-term comfort.
  4. Principles — non-negotiable identity-level guardrails
Define the lines you won't cross regardless of circumstance. These aren't goals — they're constraints. "I will never..." statements that hold even when things get hard.
  5. Structural Tensions — contradictions and trade-offs
Name the conflicts you live with. Security vs. growth. Independence vs. partnership. Short-term vs. long-term. These tensions don't resolve — they get managed consciously.
  6. Literature Review — frameworks that clarify thinking
The counselor surfaces relevant frameworks — not summaries, just the ideas that sharpen your thinking. Attachment theory for relationships. Capital allocation for finance. Only what helps.
  7. Metrics — health score (0–10) + trajectory (−2 to +2)
Rate this domain right now. Then rate the direction it's moving. A 6 with upward trajectory is different from a 6 that's been sliding for months. The numbers make drift visible.
  8. Immediate Actionsspecific, realistic, measurable
Not "get healthier." Instead: "Walk 8,000 steps tomorrow." 1-3 actions that are concrete enough to do this week. If you can't measure it, it's not an action — it's a wish.
  9. Cadence — when do we meet again?
Set the next session before this one ends. Weekly, biweekly, monthly — whatever fits. The system only works if you come back. This step is what prevents the counselor itself from drifting.

See It in Action

A real session with the Profession Counselor, step 1 of the protocol.

Profession Counselor, Step 1: Where I Stand
Counselor
Step 1, Diagnostic
What do you do for a living, and how does it feel right now?
You
I'm a data engineer at a mid-size fintech company. Been there about three years. The work itself is fine, I'm good at it. But lately it feels like I'm just maintaining systems instead of building anything new. I come home and I'm not tired exactly, just... flat.
Counselor
That's a useful distinction. "Good at it" and "flat" can coexist for a long time before something breaks. Let me ask this: what's working well in your professional life right now?
You
Stability, honestly. Good salary, solid team, remote flexibility. My manager leaves me alone, which I used to love. Now I'm not sure if that's autonomy or just... being forgotten.
Counselor
That shift matters. Autonomy you chose feels different from invisibility you noticed. What's not working, or what feels stuck?
You
Growth. There's no path forward here unless someone leaves. I've brought it up once and got a vague "we'll see what opens up." I have skills that aren't being used, and I can feel them getting stale.
Counselor
So the role fits your current skills but not your trajectory. That's a structural issue, not a bad quarter. Would you say you're in the right field but possibly the wrong seat?
You
Yeah, that's exactly it. I like the work. I just don't like where this particular version of it is headed.
Counselor
Right field, wrong seat. That's a solvable problem, but only if you treat it as one. Staying comfortable while your skills go stale is its own kind of drift. Let's keep going. What is your relationship with your work right now: energizing, draining, neutral, or complicated?

The System

The Counselors is not a book. It's not an app. It's an integrated platform designed to work together.

The Engine
AI Prompts

Structured counselor prompts for every domain. Run them with Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI tool. The protocol does the heavy lifting. The AI enforces structure and prevents drift within sessions.

The Accountability Layer
Web Platform

A dashboard that tracks which domains are on track and which are drifting. Reminders, session scheduling, and progress over time. The thing that brings you back.

The Framework
The Book

The full philosophy, the drift thesis, the portfolio model, the method. Nine domain chapters with prose, examples, exemplar figures, and curated reading guides. The deep understanding behind the system.

The Guide
Video & Instruction

Walkthroughs for running your first session, setting up your dashboard, and conducting a council meeting. See the system in action before you commit.

The Forum
Community

Others working through the same system. Accountability partners, shared progress, and the knowledge that someone else is doing the hard work alongside you. Drift is harder when someone is watching.

This is not easy. Running an honest diagnostic across every domain of your life — then committing to act on what you find — may be the hardest work you'll ever do. It's supposed to be.
